Voyage of the Dawn Treader

The children and I are sitting here watching Voyage of the Dawn Treader trailers... and counting down to December 2010 when it finally comes out (!!!) when we discovered a little quiz. The children helped me fill it in.... those of you who know me IRL may get a little chuckle.

As Edmund, while you may be quick to lose your temper or appear unfriendly, you are known for doing the right thing in the end.

Just for funsies, let's go with the opposite answers... (to which Galadriel said "Oh, so we'll do them all bad?" Out of the mouths of babes)

As Susan, you are mature and respectable, yet with your 'motherly' role you can be quite bossy. Still, you can always be trusted to be loyal and faithful.

Novena for the Holy Father

The Institute of Christ the King has pulled together a spiritual bouquet and a novena for the Holy Father from April 24 to May 2.

Prayer for the Sovereign Pontiff
O Lord, we are the millions of believers, humbly kneeling at Thy feet and begging Thee to preserve, defend and save the Sovereign Pontiff for many years. He is the Father of the great fellowship of souls and our Father as well. On this day, as on every other day, he is praying for us also, and is offering unto Thee with holy fervor the sacred Victim of love and peace.
Wherefore, O Lord, turn Thyself toward us with eyes of pity; for we are now, as it were, forgetful of ourselves, and are praying above all for him. Do Thou unite our prayers with his and receive them into the bosom of Thine infinite mercy, as a sweet savor of active and fruitful charity, whereby the children are united in the Church to their Father. All that he asks of Thee this day, we too ask it of Thee in union with him.
Whether he weeps or rejoices, whether he hopes or offers himself as a victim of charity for his people, we desire to be united with him; nay more, we desire that the cry of our hearts should be made one with his. Of Thy great mercy grant, O Lord, that not one of us may be far from his mind and his heart in the hour that he prays and offers unto Thee the Sacrifice of Thy blessed Son. At the moment when our venerable High Priest, holding in His hands the very Body of Jesus Christ, shall say to the people over the Chalice of benediction these words: "The peace of the Lord be with you always," grant, O Lord, that Thy sweet peace may come down upon our hearts and upon all the nations with new and manifest power.
Amen.

Good Shepherd Sunday

Our Bishop celebrated the Traditional Latin Mass at our parish on Good Shepherd Sunday.

Friends of mine who I haven't seen in a year, when their baby had just been born.

Proud Mama, happy baby.

After Mass we had a lovely little reception.

Note that Frodo now sports glasses!
A Little Princess made her First Holy Communion today!

Summery Spring Days

It was nearly 80 degrees so the children wanted to go down and pad around in the
stream. Poppy taste testing leaves and grass and mud! Ugh.

Divine Mercy Sunday

One of our local parishes had a very special event for Divine Mercy Sunday, April 11th. This is the 2nd year I volunteered and am very grateful I had the opportunity again.
Poppy was contained in a basket so I could get a few things set up. She was otherwise all over the place!
My friend Alice and I manned the freebie table.

The Procession.

The founder of the Knights of Divine Mercy carried the relic of St. Faunstina.

The image of Divine Mercy.

What an adorable couple! :)

A lovely lady

Fr. Rick, founder of the Knights of Divine Mercy

There is never a lack of arms to hold Poppy!

After we finished cleaning up at the church, I stopped by a friend of mine's house to pick up our bees that her husband so kindly picked up for us.
As I drove in this was the sight that met my eyes. I just could not stop laughing!

Dad straightens up the little man.

The wee little beekeeper.

Just Antics

Why do we call this cute?

A bald baby for a bald baby.

It is very important to note here the tootsie roll wrapper that is carefully hidden under the edge of the couch.....

I'm sure this fine portrayal of Pippin has nothing to do with tootsie rolls.....

Frodo took his trumpet outside to play... mom's idea.... to which the dog joined in howling away.

Mud puppy. Why is this cute?

Pippin is in "server training".

Real practice.
Later this same day the children asked if they could make a chapel in the basement to play Mass and train the little boys. What mother would argue with that?!!

They "built" St. Faustino's chapel, so named after one of our priests, in a little room that never did get an actual purpose but to be the dumping grounds.

I thought they did a surprisingly nice job. This is the later and communion rail.... note, this is also a handy way to store bulk pails!!

Cassocks and surplices

Pews.

Rosaries.

Ski poles.
Ski poles?!

Apparently Poppy had to be taken out of "church" for being a disturber of the peace. Obviously she claims innocence!

Merry and Pippin in training.

During a recent storm we lost 1-1/2 windmill blades.

Poppy 'n spaghetti, a lethal combination. Why do we call this cute?

We tried to get an Easter picture but it wasn't overly successful.
