The topics covered are self-discipline, work, perseverance, faith/trust, compassion, friendship, courage, loyalty, responsibility, honesty.  Under each title there are quotations, poems, etc.. to memorize, definitions, their synonymns and antonmyms, story suggestions to read, mostly taken from The Book of Virtues and The Moral Compass (the reading suggestions are labeled as Kindergarten to Sixth Grade but all my children through High School enjoy the stories. Also, Biblical passages, prayers, stories of the saints and virtues, recommended reading, topics of discussion, various activities in writing, art, music, nature/science, projects and a section on how to practice the particular virtue.

In the Footsteps of the Saints Series

I was introduced to the In the Footsteps of the Saints series of saint stories by Brother Ernest when I attended a wedding this fall.  These are being re-printed by Mary's Books.  I must say that they are very enjoyable! They are rich in the faith yet simple enough for young minds.... without being watered down.  There are 3 levels. Level One is for those who are beginning early chapter books.  I have bought 2 full sets of these (10 books in each set).  The Level Two is for the next level, still young readers, but these are longer in length.  I have bought 2 full sets of these (5 books in each set).  There are more in both of those levels as well as the ones I bought... yes, there are many of these!  And they are being reprinted by a wonderful family!  This year they will also be working on reprinting the Level Three books.

Mother Love

This is one of the most beautiful prayer and instruction books for mothers.  When this book was reprinted a number of years ago it was modernized and the beautiful instructions for raising children were removed.  (beautiful yet humbling, how much I find I've failed when I review these instructions!  Get up! Try again!)  It has some of the most beautiful prayers that every mother should say every day for her children.  This is now reprinted by Angelus Press in full as it should have been kept all along.  A great gift for any mother and a perfect gift for a baby shower!  You can purchase it HERE!
