Around the House and Farm

Sadly, the local "Columbus" town voted to remove the historical Christopher Columbus statue.  All that remains is a big block of cement.  This is all getting old. All they had to do was put a mask on him and all would have been just fine. 😆 I'm really, actually rather sick of the stupidity.

Watching the slideshow of pictures from Galadriel and Celeborn's wedding/reception/honeymoon.
1. Marigold so happy to have Frodo home again.
2. Union soldier
3. Chacos - best suppoert in a shoe ever. Now if they would make a regular shoe with the same support... but they don't.
 Happy chicks.
 Turkey escapees

 My first gladiola!

My dill has grown to great heights.

 Slowly but surely gaining produce.

Neowise comet

We went around a couple country blocks looking for a place to view the Neowise comet.
We were able to see it, it was really neat!

Then we got home and I noticed this.  Really. I tell you. There is just no end to the creativity (in laziness fashion)

Then we went outside and discovered we could see the comet right out our back door. Of course it doesn't show in the pictures. The thing to the left is the moon. We also saw a satellite and many shooting stars (meteorites)

A lovely woman stopped by and brought us a number of excess groceries . How sweet is that?

One of my kids said my chicks are getting ugly. I don't think they are ugly!  They will get ugly, but I don't think they are yet... We sacrifice looks for tastiness.

Fresh cucumbers from the garden make into quick pickles. Fresh seafood from the farmer's market (shrimp and frog legs), fresh basil pesto from the garden (the basil from the garden that is. Delish!

Time to move chicks around. This crate will be used to get new layer hens. It is a great set up as we can bring our old layers and get $2/each and then pay $12 for each layer, which is ready to lay eggs.

New waterer for the chicks.  There are little nipples that screw into the pipe and attached to a hose and do a large container for water. Much less mess.

Making a new pen to move the 4=1/2 week old chicks out of the "duck shed" and move the 110 chicks that are 2 weeks old into the "duck shed".

We use our old trampolines for shade for the meat birds. We are on our 5th trampoline in 13 or 14 years.... they get alot of use...

Did you know turkeys can swim somewhat and enjoy a little water time?

Samwise built a feeder :tent" to keep rain out of the feeders.
 moving into the new "house"
