Colorado, Eggses, and a Play

Our chinchillas have a new condo.

Aragorn and I took a quick trip to Colorado
Over 2 hour flight there so there were movies available. Since I fell asleep during our home viewing of Mary Poppins returns, I chose that one. I only fell asleep for a few minutes in the middle. I rather liked the movie.

Up above the clouds so high.
 Ok, that's neat.

 The end.
Aragorn had business down in Littleton so first things first, we looked for where Ralph Moody lived. Apparently his house is gone but there is a nice grassy patch.
Very interesting city. I kid you not, there were actually mini ranches right in town. That was pretty neat! Especially if you are a Ralph Moody fan. Great books!
 Um... ok.

This church we passed many times it is something about a Comforter, we thought it would be a good idea to put a barn quilt on the little tiny bars. Are barn quilts growing in popularity near you? Around us we find new ones every week it seems. I would like a barn quilt for the side of our barn. And a tiny matching one on my mail box! :D

As something to do we went to visit Buffalo Bill's grave

And yes, I did pray for his Eternal Rest.

 Um...

Who wouldn't order a 1/4 pound of bear scat fudge?
 Oh the curves...

Down there in the valley in front of the plateaus is the Coors factory. (brewing factory?). We are now in Golden Colorado. On our way up this mountain we saw a sign for the Shrine to St. Francis Xavier Cabrini. We did not find our way back to it. Turning around isn't something that happens on these roads, especially when you share with bike riders!

I remember having a fascination with plateaus when I was a child. Here we have a Mesa before our eyes. So I had to look up the difference....
Buttes were once part of flat, elevated areas of land known as mesas or plateausIn fact, the onlydifference between a mesa and a butte is its size. Most geographers say a butte is taller than it is wide, while a mesa is a much larger, slightly less elevated feature.

Coors. Incidentally it is now closed to tours (not that we tried to get in).

Not sure who designed this road but it was a jagged with these little islands that you had to weave in and out of. I suppose to keep down speeders?!

Lots and lots of solar panels in Colorado.

I believe that dark spot is a "broken down house" which Kili is currently very fascinated with these days.

And old country store in the middle of no where.

Can't drive up that road ...

This areas was somewhat ghost-town-ish. See how high the melted snow went? I bet these cabins were covered with snow during the winter.

 Visiting!

 Going up into the mountains

St. Catherine's on the Rock in Estes park. Unfortunately the chapel was locked when we were there.

there are mountain sheep up there
 mule deer

EEK, glad we didn't see one of those!

We got as high as 10,700 feet above sea level and the road was closed.

My view on the way down! (just for a bit)

 Lunch

 Watching gymnastics

 On our way home

 crop circles
 Mississippi River
 Madison

On the 27th is started snowing
We did not get 4-8 inches but we got snow, so who's counting? It's April 27th!
Belladonna came over and showed us how to make pysanky eggs.

Note to self: this project does not work with wooden eggs. I'm not sure if you know how fire works with wood, but that's why this just won't work. Nice try though!

We didn't count how many eggs we broke with our gentle handling.

This was mine. Obviously I'm a little shakey!

Kili doing his moves and an old corner stone.

Kili lost his first tooth and was mighty proud to be a big kid now.
It's supposed to be spring so we got some bubble hands (?) so we can pretend it's warm enough for them to have their jackets off,

Oh. My. These are good! Found these at Costco (of course, where else?).
The kids prepared a little play for me to watch.

 Complete with program
 Jelly beans for a snack

BRAVO!!!!!

Video from 10,700 feet above sea level.
