Feast of Christ the King

And through him to reconcile all things unto himself, making peace through the blood of his cross, both as to the things that are on earth and the things that are in heaven.
Col 1:20

The only way to save souls is to restore all things in Christ.  It's so easy to complain about this world and all the wrongness in it.  However, as our priest pointed out today, we very often forget to renew within ourselves.  That is where it starts.  We are here to make those around us recognize Christ Our King, we do that by making Him Our King and show it by the life we live, by dying to ourselves, abandoning our sins and conforming our will to His. And just what is His Will?  He taught us by His own life:  He gave up the earthly kingdom to be born in a stable, to be insulted and ridiculed and to die the death of a criminal.  That's Our King!  To claim Him as Our King we must be crucified with Him.  Our Blessed Mother teaches us how to do this.... with great love!

True Friendship

I was reading from the Sermons of St. Francis de Sales on Our Lady this morning.  Now that is a book that is on my must-have list.  If you question whether you have a true friendship, I don't mean friends, I mean that true, deep friendship of the saints.   Try measuring it up to this beautiful quote:

For if the bond of charity so bound and united the Christians of the early Church that St. Luke assures us that they were of one heart and one mind [Acts 4:32], with how much greater reason may we not say and believe that the Son and the Mother, Our Lord and Our Lady were only one soul and one life?...

But as to her soul, it was inseparably united to the soul, heart and body of her Son, so that the blows which the blessed body of the Savior received on the Cross caused no wound to the body of Our Lady, but they gave a mighty counter-blow to her soul, so that the prophecy of Simeon was verified. Love is accustomed to receive the counter blows of the afflictions of the beloved.

Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

There is in the Sacred Heart the symbol and express image of the infinite love of Jesus Christ which moves us to love in return.

Today we celebrate the beautiful Feast of the Sacred Heart. The Feast of His Divine Love.  The Feast of His great love for us.  In Him is a real beating heart just like ours, in Him is a real human love, that loves with deep emotion and feeling, just like we do.  When you find your heart broken and weary, remember, Christ's Heart, too, was broken and weary...  unite your heart to His.  And what better way has Christ Himself allowed us to be totally united with Him but in the Holy Eucharist.  We become one with Him yet how often we forget this, take advantage of this... or don't take advantage of this.  Today is the day to renew our love and devotion to Him. 

Come to me, all you that labour, and are burdened, and I will refresh you.

Corpus Christi

 He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood hath everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day.
