First Miracle Continued - Venerable Fulton Sheen

One year later after the first alleged miracle for the canonization of Venerable Fulton Sheen.  Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful article... have a hanky... be sure to click on page 2 when you finish the first page to finish the story.  Incidentally, Fr. Kunz had Fulton Sheen as one of his teachers in the seminary. It was after (that is in imitation of) Venerable Fulton Sheen's shows that he had began his own radio show.

The weird part.... No joke... It could get as much as 150° colder (windchill) here in our state this winter.   Just putting things into persepective.
End of my 2am quandaries... yeah... it's hot! :D

Feast of the Visitation

The Visitation is one of my (many) favorite feasts.  Galadriel was named after this Feast.
Immediately after Our Blessed Mother gave her Fiat to God and had conceived the Son of God by the power of the Holy Spirit, she made haste out of Divine Charity to be with her Cousin Elizabeth who was already heavy with child.  Our Blessed Mother merely said, "Be it done unto me according to Thy Word" and was off to act with not one thought for who she really was... the Mother of God.  Here was The Woman who was bearing the Son of God not spending even one moment to dwell on this, what humility!  At the moment she was together with her Cousin, St. John the Baptist lept in the womb of St. Elizabeth.  It was at that moment that he was cleansed from original sin by the power of the God-Man. This is the first known moment where Our Blessed Mother was the channel of Grace.  Elizabeth's eyes were open by the power of the Holy Spirit and she recognized the long-awaited "mother of my Lord".  To which Our Blessed Mother then gave her beautiful Magnificat:
My soul doth magnify the Lord.
And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
 Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid;
for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
Because He that is mighty, hath done great things to me; and holy is His Name....

As an aside, this is also the feast of the 2 soldiers who were the guards of the prison where Sts. Peter and Paul were imprisoned together.  The guards were converted and baptized and then died martyrs.

You Know....

You know you need rain when you get precisely 2 round bales off  a field you normally get 18-25 bales off of.

Thankfully God always provides so it isn't like there is anything to really worry about.

Feast of the Precious Blood

... neither by the blood of goats or of calves, but by His Own Blood

"If we are sincere we will have to admit that we do all in our power to escape Christ's shame and disgrace.  A lack of consideration, a slight offense, a cutting word, are all that it takes to arouse our passions.  How can we say that we know how to share in Christ's humiliations?  Behold Our Divine Master treated like a malefactor, dragged amidst the coarse insults of the soldiers outside the gate of Jerusalem and there crucified between two thieves!  And we?  What part do we take in His Passion?  How do we share in His reproach?

We, the guilty ones, far from atoning for our faults unto blood, cannot even sacrifice our self-love.  The blood which flows from sincere, total renunciation of self, from humble, generous acceptance of everything that mortifies, breaks and destroys our pride:  this is the blood which Jesus asks us to unite with His!  The Precious Blood of Jesus will give us the strength to do so, for the soul which becomes inebriated and inundated by the Blood of Christ, is clothed with true and genuine virtue' (St. Catherine of Sienna)."
Divine Intimacy

Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
That is Blood of Christ intoxicate me with Your love.  Seems to me that would solve all our problems.

Happy Birthday Merry... And More

Happy 8th-get-out-of-your-car-booster-seat Birthday, Merry!  Merry has the ability to find something entirely mundane and turn it into a case of unsuppressable (word?) laughter.
He received this go cart as a birthday presesnt-get well soon gift-combo from his grandparents-and-those-who-live-there.  He was obviously delighted.
I don't know why, but it struck me ominously funny to see this picture (sent to me from Aragorn as I wasn't there for this gift opening) with Merry and his cast driving a go-cart.
Ok... this is neat.  Some priests, seminarians and others on their pilgrimage to Holy Hill walked right by our house.  LOVE the cassocks!

Eleanor was invited to her cousin's 7th birthday party. It was an amazingly awesome party.
 First they decorated aprons

Marigold and her cousin, try taking a picture of 2 babies and get them to look at the same time... these 2 pictures made me laugh in that regard.

Next the little girlies took old bits of crayons and put them in silicone molds, they would be baked (melted) and then hardened into the various shapes. A rather easy project to make some really neat crayons.
Then there was a snack bread break for "starving artists" (how cute is that?  Absolutely everything was .... artistic!  A palet pallette wiht with various colored fruits, pretzels dipped in colored "chocolate" (I think!) and wrapped in "crayon wrappers", everything even down to the straws and cups! (enough type-os for you?)

Next project included an artist cousin of my sister-in-law who taught the girls some painting techniques.

Meanwhile all the mothers sat inside visiting, which of course was enjoyable.
Next project was making little bead necklaces where the beads were pieces of colored pencils with little holes drilled in them.  Adorable.
Just a picture I took of 2 of my favorite pictures!
Then it was time for the Happy Birthday desserts.  Everything was sooooo cute!
And I must say the gluten free cookies with the frosting were very good.

I just thought these were adorable, little rice crispy treat paint brushes dipped in "paint" and those pretzel crayons.  There is more creativity in this one party than I've had in my entire life.
Then there were still cute little party favors for the girlies to choose from. Now I thought the paint can with the yellow "paint" spill was clever!  (see it in the picture?)
 Eleanor had a great time.
Happy Birthday, Neice and thanks for a fun party!
