Continued Prayers Please

I ask you to please continue to pray for Pop (Don) who continues to suffer with his cancer.  We had a long, meaningful and prayerful morning today thinking this was his last day, when, once again he rallied and regained some strength.

Urgent Prayers

First, please pray for my father-in-law, Don, who is suffering with pancreatic cancer of the liver as well as a post-surgical hernia that causes extensive pain.  And pray for the family.

Second, please pray for little Fulton a 4 year old boy who received extensive burns when something exploded in their burn barrel.  If you would like to follow his carepage, his page is HERE.  It is just absolutely heart wrenching, at the same time full of faith.  I have known his mother on-line for many years.

May Our Blessed Mother bring peace to all.

Prayers

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you, and for all who do not have recourse to you, especially the enemies of the Church and those recommended to you. Amen.

I ask you to please say this prayer for a special and urgent intention.  Would you be so generous as to say this prayer for a week or whatever you might be able to find yourself capable of.

Urgent Prayer Request

Please pray for Baby Dominic Pio  (blog HERE).  He underwent a major surgery and has been in critical condition.  I've been following his story since before he was born (began on a care page and recently moved to a blog) and I can say in all honesty, I've never seen greater expression of Faith. And the love that they have for this baby is unsurmountable.  And what a beautiful thing in this day where babies are so hated.  Today, on this beautiful Feast of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, let's pray that she answers the prayers for the miraculous.  I cannot even think of this family and wee Dominic Pio without weeping in a mix of sadness at the suffering yet at the same time with great joy because of a family who has such a deep level of love. And please pray for the family. They are suffering so much, especially Mary, the mother.  May Our Blessed Mother bring her great consolation and hope.

Prayer Request

Someone emailed me today asking for prayers for a young man with 4 young children who is battling cancer and recently took a turn for the worse.  If you could offer up a prayer for him, I'm sure the family would be very appreciative.

Novena Part 2

Today we start Part 2 of our novena for Aragorn's father.  And I thought I'd post the prayer here as it is so very beautiful.  It was written by Blessed Miguel Pro himself.

Blessed Miguel Pro's Prayer to the Blessed Virgin of Sorrows
Let me live my life at your side, my Mother, and be the companion of your bitter solitude and your profound pain. Let my soul feel your eyes' sad weeping and the abandonment of your heart.

On the road of my life, I do not wish to savor the happiness of Bethlehem, adoring the Child Jesus in your virginal arms. I do not wish to enjoy the amiable presence of Jesus Christ in the humble little house of Nazareth. I do not care to accompany you on your glorious Assumption to the angels' choir.

For my life, I covet the jeers and mockery of Calvary; the slow agony of your Son, the contempt, the ignominy, the infamy of His Cross. I wish to stand at your side, most sorrowful Virgin, strengthening my spirit with your tears consummating my sacrifice with your martyrdom, sustaining my heart with your solitude, loving my God and your God with the immolation of my being.

Cancer Prayers and Novena

We (the extended fam) found out yesterday with certainty that Aragorn's father, Don has liver cancer (this is not an unusual circumstance following pancreatic cancer surgery though we had hoped by removing the tumor last December that this would be avoided... God had other plans). If you could keep him in your prayers, we would be so appreciative.  If anyone would like to join us in a novena that would be wonderful (and feel free to insert your own intentions as well).

This is the novena which begins tomorrow (October 28th). It's one of those rare years in which the Feast of Blessed Miguel Pro is 3 "novenas" following the Feast of Christ the King in the Traditional Calendar.  If you would like a PDF just let me know.

Viva Cristo Rey!

Rain

I know that I know some pretty good prayer warriors out there.  We need some rain.  A whole lot if the truth be told. About 4 inches of rain.... but... not all at once. :D

And since today is the Feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, she would be a good one to pray to!  Incidentally I was reading about her today, she is also known as Our Lady of Perpetual Succor.  The 2 Angels are Michael and Gabriel and they are holding the items to implement the Passion of Our Lord.  The Greek Letters are the abbreviations for the words "Mother of God", "Jesus Christ", "Archangel Michael" and "Archangel Gabriel".  Our Lord is clinging to His Mother (a fear of the Crucifixion as indicated by the instruments of the Passion).   The part of the picture that intrigues me the most is the dangling shoe of the Christ Child so I had to read about that. In the Old Testament, the symbol of removing one's shoes was one of being ready to be treated as a slave or servant. (I could not help thinking about St. John the Baptsit and his statement that he is not fit to loose the sandal strap of He Who is to come... not fit to loose the sandal of The Slave. Something to think about there)  But Our Lord gave his "Fiat" inspite of the natural human fears, "Not my will but Thine be done."  When times are hardest, cling to your Mother and give your "Fiat".  Yes... be it done unto me as You Will.  Be His slave by accepting the stripes.  Plus... what are you going to do about it anyway?  Might as well accept all that comes...  you know it's coming! :D
