2023 - July 16 - 23 New York Part I

We returned from Phoenix Tournament of Champions in the morning on the 15th of July. Pippin and I had taken a red eye, arrived at 5:30 am and then drove home. Merry, Bilbo, Poppy, Marigold, Kili and I left on the 16th at 6 am for the first leg of our New York trip (where my family is). First stop was at St. Mary's Oratory in Rockford for Mass. We used to go to that church back in the day. For about 10 years we trekked down.

It was nice to see old friends
(so statue, some real in-the-flesh)

They are putting in a marble sanctuary floor so everything was moved up.

We arrived at our airbnb, which was great except for the fact that the upstairs part of this old firehouse, was a masonic lodge. But we had holy water and didn't invite in any uninvited guests, nor was there a soul around the place. Other than that tidbit, the place was great. This old fireshouse was also a auto repair shop. Very quaint, comfortable and fun.

Ooops, visit to the whiney corner.

We arrived on the 17th. My parents. No, my dad doesn't drive a harley. He was given this shirt after an auto accident and they had to tear his shirt off. He had to go home in something, and this was the shirt.

The school (and church) where I attended 7th and 8th grade
It was a Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic Church and school

Back at the lake. We had amazingly beautiful weather, perfect for lake time.

A trip to Skaneateles, NY is not complete without a meal at Doug's Fish Fry.
