Happy Birthday Pope Benedict XVI

Happy Birthday!

Many thanks for all he has done for tradition and for all his perseverence through the diabolical persecution against the Sacred Priesthood.
We are proud to be Catholic and proud to have Pope Benedict XVI as our Vicar of Christ on Earth!

Meteorite

WOW! Aragorn and I were sitting in our living room last night when we saw this big ball of light streaking across the sky, I thought it seemed kind of greenish and then this big white flash which I thought was lightening. Sure enough this morning we learned it was a Meteorite (or space junk as I read in one place)! A meteorite was Tom's guess, though we did run outside to see if we'd hear a plane crash or some kind of explosion.

Here's a News Article

Here's a YouTube

The funny thing is that we just sent in 3 rock samples to a test lab to see if they were meteorites.

This was just sort of a fireworks type display as we were finishing up our taxes!

Easter and First Holy Communion

Poppy

We have a little Holy Thursday tradition that was started when I was a child and I picked up with my children in recent years. After Holy Thursday Mass we would go around to the various parishes and visit our Lord in the Altar of Repose.

I heard about Resurrection rolls so we decided to try it. Basically you take a marshmallow that represents Christ, you roll it in melted butter that represents the annointing of the dead body. Then you roll it in cinnamon sugar that represents the burial spices.

Then you roll it up inside cresent dough.
This is the tomb.

Then you bake it. The idea is that the marshmallow melts and then you open it up and there is nothing inside. However, don't use the 50% bigger cresent dough, it doesn't work so well! The cinnamon sugar on top was Eowyn's idea, she said it was dirt on top. when the marshmallows weren't quite done yet the children shrugged and said "Oh, it's alright, it's the linens"

When vanity goes a bit too far!

Easter Sunday was Eleanor's First Holy Communion.

Fr. Pedro had the honor!
Oh happy day for a sweet little lady!

Congratulations to Eleanor and JB, pictured here with Fr. Alex and Fr. Miguel.

Last year a reception at a restraunt across the street from our parish was started with all 7 of our priests (well, one is in Spain) and whoever else wanted to come. This is Fr. John the Entertainer.

Eleanor and her First communion Doll.

My friend Magnum Opus Bridget would ask what we had to eat :) The idea was an appetizer meal since we would have just gotten back from a big meal and those who hadn't gone to the restraunt would have had a big meal with their families. But it turned into a full meal, of course everyone brought something.

Sprial Cut Ham, Chicken Salad, Buns, Rye Bread Dip, Veggies, Dips, one kind of jello for my friend Lesa in MN who would want to have that if she had been able to come ;) hmmmm what else?
Party Favors. Those little tiny candies are actually little wee teensy doves. Cute or what?

Baby Cousins who have hair! O woe is Poppy.

Scrumptious or what?
So Poppy got a new do since she was the hairless baby.

Naturally, Pippin had to pop in and give Poppy a kiss at a rather inoportune time.

Eleanor and Cousin I.

Thank you Knights of Columbus

We were honored by a visit from the Knights of Columbus who presented us with a gift for Galadriel. The most beautiful part about this visit was that the Knight (far left), who was one of 14 children, said this was for the sake of our children and where children are concerned he is always concerned..... our large family full of children. In a society that is so anti-child, it is very touching when someone, not to mention a group like the Knights of Columbus do something so kind and thoughtful. So next time the Knights are selling tootsie roll, buy some :) The Knight on the far right also happens to be our next-door neighbor. He and his wife are the type of neighbors everyone should be blessed with. We are very grateful for these neighbors as well as for the Knights.

Happy Birthday Aragorn and Pippin!

Aragorn and Pippin are birthday twins.

Someone gave Pippin a kite

I think I can..... I think I can....

I can!

Still bald....

Baby Hitler?

Dilectable or what?

What? Practicing something other that the William Byrd Mass? Shhh... don't tell!

Obviously we are backtracking here...
I did some (major) spring cleaning in the boys room a couple/few weeks ago (who could tell today?). I found the under-the-bed basket full of none other than deer antlers?!

Palm Sunday Procession
We were so blessed this year to have the entire Triduum in the Traditional Rite. It was so solemn and so beautiful!
Galadriel and Sam working on the boys' barracks.... err... bedroom.
Outdoor spring cleaning. Apparently it isn't necessary that the rake actually touch the ground! I miss the snow that covers up a multitude of yard sins.
Rosie and Eleanor... obviously helping!

Poppy gets her first feel of grass which she found to be particularly prickly.

Working on a little horse shed so the ponies can stay up by the house.
