Padre Pio Relics and Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe Pilgrimage

Padre Pio

 Saint Pio
We were blessed to have some relics of St. Padre Pio come within a couple hours of us so we took the opportunity to make a little Pilgrimage.  We went to the viewing in La Crosse at St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral.  This was a magnificent icon.
 The line moved quickly.
Kili with the Padre Pio card they gave us.

We walked up the side so the view of the relics from behind.  I'm guessing this Cathedral was renovated during the de-renovating era.  As there were some lovely items hither and thither and then some things like the big block altar.

There were two Knights of Columbus in full CORRECT regalia.  (Please reconsider taking the honor guard away... it's sybolic, rich, and lovely!)

Relics of St. Padre Pio, a Capuchin priest who bore the stigmata of Jesus:
· Saint Pio’s glove
· crusts of the wounds
· Cotton gauze with Saint Pio’s blood stains
· a lock of hair
· Saint Pio’s mantle (not sure why they kept this in the plastic wrap!)
· Saint Pio’s handkerchief soaked with his sweat hours before he died.

Afterwards... like everyone else viewing.... we went to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. GLORIOUS!
First we had a picnic with a family Frodo knew from camp... and I've know the mom for years on a list.
I told the boys I'd like to take a picture of them for their camp organizer... Yeah... they turned around...

Cardinal Burke, pray for him, he's trying really hard for martyrdom! :D He also built this lovely Shrine.

Wish I had the skill to make a gonfalon like this!

What are we talking about? Dragon flies?!

Marble and gold everything.
