There is a natural swimming hole at the bottom with a very deep area complete with diving board. Due to all the rain they had to close the swimming hole due to high e-coli.
But the hiking trail was lovely. Even if one of the girls was a bit tired...
up, up, up...
On our way down we looked way down to see where we had been on the other side of Buttermilk Creek
Next we went over to Robert H Treman State park.
This cracked us up. Apparently when they get so much rain the silt settles on the bottom and it's where the e-coli is found so they have to stir up the silt and push it out and basically drain the swimming hole. It takes about 24 hours to refill.
By this point we were hungry so we ate at this playground at the park.
When you don't eat meat on Fridays, travel meals are always a little more tedious. We brought bread, peanut butter and honey and some other fruit and things.
Afterwards we went back to Skaneateles for a little shopping and then to Doug's Fish Fry for dinner. Cannot get enough Doug's. Yum. Best milkshakes (malts), great fish, steamed clams, shrimp, scallops, etc.. Yum. Doug's started when I was in high school and has been a booming business ever since.
Then a quick stop for some ice cream.
That evening we spent at the lake with family
Then it was off to return the car and get an Uber to the train station.
Exhausted is a sign of a good trip, I think.
