Lord, bless my enemies and all those who do not wish me well.
St.
Elizabeth was one day kneeling in prayer when the thought of the
injuries she had received from so many who ought to have befriended her
came in rapid succession before her mind. Instead of permitting herself
to be moved by any feelings of resentment, she besought God, with all
the fervor of her soul, to shower down His choicest blessings on them
all in return for these injuries.
Our
Lord was pleased to answer her: ‘My daughter, of all the prayers you
have ever offered up to Me, there was not one so pleasing to Me as the
one you have just now said, and in return I tell you that by it you have
obtained the remission of all your sins.’”
