NY Trip Day 7 - heading home - Niagara Falls

We left Skaneateles, NY about 6:30 am.
We had a great time and the weather was great most of the time, despite the weather forecast of lots of rain. So glad it was wrong.

It took about 2-1/2 hours to get up to Niagara Falls.

Kids wore their swim suits as we planned to get wet at the Falls.

Rainbow Bridge to Canada
(not able to go thanks to Covid)

We arrived right about 9:00 and there were no lines at all. We got our tickets for the boat ride and got right on. There can be up to 600 people on board but there were significantly less.

Ponchos are provided as passengers do get wet. (Spray from the Falls.
There are actually 2 Falls, the smaller "USA" falls - the Bridal Veil, and the larger "Canadian" Falls the Horseshoe Falls. we rode in the boat through both. USA boats had blue ponchos, Canadian Boats had red ponchos

Very hard to take pictures when your fingers are soaked!

Kids "in" Canada

Observation Tower
Since it was a gorgeous day, glad we arrived early as the lines were getting longer.... a lot longer.

Up top of the Bridal Veil Falls - complete with rainbows!

The American Rapids
Crossing the bridge to Goat Island (Terrapin Point)

Kids with Tesla (think water power from the falls)

Amish choir singing (I did take a video)

Heading down to "Cave of the Winds"

Yellow ponchos needed even more at the Cave of the Winds than on the boat.

We walked up the wooden structure right along the Falls.

Yes, the next photo was actually a photo I took at the "hurricane" water fall making winds (and water) up to about 70 mph. I was very glad I had picked up a waterproof pouch for my phone or I wouldn't have been able to take any pictures!

Wet, very wet, sopping wet in fact.

We tried to take the walking bridge to Canada...

We stopped at Adrian's Beef on Weck (very NY). Delicious beef!

Then got Perry's Ice Cream - yes, this is a *small* cone.

Merry got a "medium" cone. He had quite a time licking it fast enough. 😂

This semi had some troubles. They had just opened up this ramp when we got there.

Studebaker pictures at the hotel.

Way over-sized soft pretzel.

  1. The last and only time, I've been to Niagara Falls was March 2013. Not much to do when it's snowy and icy. Sam and I will have to plan a trip there sometime in a future summer.
