Day 2 Progress

Today was a very painful day for Galadriel. This is very normal, Day 2 and Day 3 following such an intensive surgery are the 2 most painful day. Did she complain? No. Tomorrow will be a hurdle as well in the pain department but hopefully after that we will see less pain and more gain.

One major accomplishment is that Galadriel asked me to remove the pump things she has to have around her legs now and then to message her legs (I know, I wondered to where the massage therapist was, too). Then suddenly she began to fling her legs over to the side. I asked her where she was going and she wanted to go into the other room. I told her smilingly that she can't do that til she at least sits in a chair first. So she decided that was where she was going to go next. I was so dumbfounded since in the morning the therapist-of-one-kind-or-another made her sit up and she was all schlumpy and in terrible pain and later they came in and she said no. But she pulled herself up with very little help and we got her seated. Wow. Yay!

She ate about 4 bites of everything and left the other 12 bites of everything to me. Much to her disappointment, hospital pancakes aren't like home-pancakes. (Fanny Farmer cookbook pancake recipe... for all you mega-size families, you need to quadruple it!)

But tomorrow our nurse with the Nativity shirts and Nativity collection will be back so that is reassuring. I'd like you to say a prayer for Claude, he's been wonderful.

Galadriel's dear friend Alice visited today which was the highlight of her day. She was also thrilled to see one of her cousins.

Galadriel has no feeling in her right side but she has the ability to move it so hopefully the feeling comes back.

And the surgeon, Dr. Albright, came in today to check up on her and he was astounded by her progress. He was so surprised that she got up and sat in a chair and was eating. I guess that is usually not expected until the 5th day. He left smiling from ear-to-ear.

Thank you so much for the prayers, it has been difficult to concentrate on anything or remember how to pray with a clear mind (if my mind was ever clear). Thank you is so silly sounding and so inadequate.

Incidentally I wanted to take a picture of Galadriel in the chair but she said "Umm... no pictures" haha
