Feast of St. Lucy

Today we pray that St. Lucy intercede to cure Galadriel's left eye. Technically there is nothing wrong with her eye but the eyes working together usually end up in some double vision and the eyelid works up to about 1/2 way but generally droops. Some improvement but not perfect yet. The "legend" of St. Lucy holds that while she was tortured under the reign of Diocletian they removed her eyes (ouch!) but God restored them.

Galadriel wants to go home in the worst way. (need I say we want her to be home in the worst way?) She is walking better each time I see her. The stitches are a little sore but better than yesterday.

Did I mention that the MRI results came back clear? She has some swelling from the drain (normal) but that should subside soon. It's really rather amazing all that has happened over the last 10 days. I keep thinking someone will wake me up.

  3. So glad to see her improvement! We continue to pray for her.
Incidentally, when our third was born, they wanted us to wait around for some remote physician to read her cardiogram. When it took forever, we got up, got our things together, and said "we're going- a.m.a. if need be" they made a quick call to the physician , who quickly agreed.
If she's well enough to go home w/out ins. , then she must be well enough with it!

  4. When we were trying to get our wee one out of the NICU back in April, one of our wonderful nurses gave me a little advice that I'll pass on to you--don't be afraid to show a little emotion. Sometimes a little emotion from the parents is what it takes to get the discharge moving. Find out if exactly why they want to keep her 5 more days. If it is just the PT then she probably doesn't need to be there anymore.

  5. Julie, so glad to hear of her improvements. Praise God on her MRI results. The insurance issue does not make sense. Pressure them for an answer to the extra days in the hospital. God Bless!

  7. I am in tears watching the improvement your daughter has experienced so quickly. Praise God a thousand times! You are such a beautiful family. (I haven't much been able to visit your blog for a few days because we all came down with the flu--my husband told me that he was offering up all his sufferings for your daughter.)
