I was introduced to the
In the Footsteps of the Saints series of saint stories by Brother Ernest when I attended a wedding this fall. These are being re-printed by Mary's Books. I must say that they are very enjoyable! They are rich in the faith yet simple enough for young minds.... without being watered down. There are 3 levels. Level One is for those who are beginning early chapter books. I have bought 2 full sets of these (10 books in each set). The Level Two is for the next level, still young readers, but these are longer in length. I have bought 2 full sets of these (5 books in each set). There are more in both of those levels as well as the ones I bought... yes, there are many of these! And they are being reprinted by a wonderful family! This year they will also be working on reprinting the Level Three books.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for finding these! I've been hoping and praying for another set comparable to the Mary Fabyan Windeatt series and every time I come across one, I'm so disappointed. I've even returned the Vision series. I look forward to buying these! Thanks again Julie!
ReplyDeleteI hope you like them!!! These are for much younger children than the Mary Fabyan Windeatt. (levels 1 and 2 anyway) but I really found them enjoyable. I would like to hear your 2c. What didn't you like about the Vision books? I have mostly the old ones, if that makes a difference I have no idea. :)
ReplyDeleteMy children start reading the MFW books right after completing the Little Angel Readers, so right around 6 or 7 years old. Now I figure they can read the Footsteps books alongside their Little Angel Readers.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Vision books, it was years ago but if I remember correctly it had to do with some modern writing which didn't come across as plausible considering the time period of the saint. Even my older children found discrepancies but this may only have to do with the updated ones and not the originals you have.
Yesterday I ordered the first two books in level one of the Footsteps so I'll let you know as soon as they arrive. I'm excited! :-)
