School Year 2010-2011 Planning

Our homeschool is named St. Philip Neri and St. John Vianney Academy. It is that time of year, time to get back to school. My plan to do several things through the summer back-fired as we had alot of fun! But I also spent some of my summer preparing and planning. Hopefully this year we have no interruptions, like brain surgery! Being a one room homeschool house is very challenging, between juggling all the students, toddler, baby and studies it is also time balancing and when to study which combined classes, who uses the computers and when... not to mention meals and keeping the house clean. What has helped us immensely is the workbox system. I highly recommend it. You would not believe all that can be accomplished in a day. You know those extra subjects you never get to like art and languages, well, they can get done this way. The idea is to train your children to follow in progression their various studies. My family is very hands on and visual so this helps us alot. It also helps me to keep track of everything. As soon as I get a new camera, mine died after the great waterslide day, I'll post pictures... maybe the school will be clean by then :)

Galadriel has a follow-up MRI on August 9th so we plan to start back to school August 10th barring any natural or unnatural catastrophes.

  1. Julie, So nice to see your plans! It really helps for me, on the more "beginners" end of the spectrum. I'll have to look into the workbox idea- it could be a great thing for us! We've got 3rd gr. , 1st gr., and pre-k here. Oh , yeah, and the crayon-eater. :)

  2. Your post makes me think twice before even considering to register a complaint about school planning. I hate it when you do that to me, Julie.

  3. I have been homeschooling for 14 years. We had a bad year last year and I was looking for something to freshen things up a bit. Based upon your recommendation, I have decided to give this a go!! Thank you, a recommendation from you holds a lot of weight :)
