This week we made the Lazy Daisy Cake for Lady Modesty's Baking Challenge. We have made this before out of another cookbook and it was so delicious so we decided to try this version. We didn't have any cream since we had already shaken our milk so we just used milk instead of cream. We aren't coconut fans here so we used walnuts instead of coconut in the topping. The cake itself tasted very good but the topping was way too sweet, though of course my husband thought the topping was very good. However, we had a catastrophe, the recipe said to broil the topping 5-10 minutes. After 5 minutes the topping was completely scorched. They must have had a different idea of "broil" back in the day!
This is the burnt product... not very pretty, but I guess you can't judge a cake by its topping.
