2019 Geneva Switzerland June 7

This is how we pack for 2 weeks away from home. Large backpacks. No bag checking, no lost luggage.
I enjoy a window seat to see the views and clouds.

It's kind of small, but the Statue of Liberty is on the island to the right.

We landed in Geneva Switzerland at 8;00 am, walked over to our hotel to drop off our bags and then had to bide our time for about 6 hours we wandered around in a tired daze.

 Jett d'eau

I believe this is an ancient sarcophagus but I didn't find it again when I was on that side of the road.

 Art and History Museum
Art in the Park is coming up and there were some odd dangly things in the trees.
Flowers grow out of the rocks all over the places. Very pretty.

We took a tour of the archeological dig under San Pierre's. It used to be a Catholic Church until Calvin got ahold of it. I'm not sure the history specifically but something I'll look up later. Anyway, the Church, like many others, was built on top of old churches as they grew.

When they cast the bell they had it up on some boards, below you can see the imprint of the boards.

There are numerous pictures of what the building might have looked like in its day to go along with the ruins. There was probably a good mile of excavation to look at. Below is a cell

Baptistry
 Mosaic flooring
 There were many wells
We did go up to see the church itself as well. Interestingly they face where the Tabernacle would have been if they had not had the Protestant Reformation. But instead they face a blank areas since the High Altar and Tabernacle were removed.

Where the monks would have been "in choir" if the Church was still Catholic.
A huge organ with many massive pipes

We ate our picnic in the park next to the Notre Dame Cathedral (not in Paris, of course). This was is still Catholic. So we went inside after we ate.
Imagine having to climb these winding stairs to the choir loft (pictured in full below)

This dog adorned the elevated Gospel pulpit. I have never seen that before.
HEre you can see the rest of the stairs leading to the choir loft!!

Since we still had a lot of time to kill we went to CERN where the Large Hadron Collider is located underground.

We got back to our hotel right at 3:00

It's a nice quaint hotel room
After I had a nap and Tom was catching up on whatever it is he needs to catch up on, we went back out and wandered the streets/parks

Yes, outdoor ping pong and foosball tables!

We got one of the most delicious Calzones for dinner. We split one. Came back and Whatsapp'd with the kids and now we are absolutely beat and it is only 8:00/30ish.bHopefully we get a good night's sleep so we can figure out something to do tomorrow without dragging our feet!
