We had breakfast at our hotel. A very nice buffet. Best to get your breakfast included with your stay, so something to mention if you use a travel agent.
We decided to go to Mont Seleve. You can see the cable car cables in the distance.
One thing to note is the blue card at the top. It is a very important card. You receive it just for staying in any hotel in Geneva. It allows you to ride any of the public transportation and they have a great bus/train/boat system here. Joan of Arc is the book I brought along to read for some relaxation. One of my favorite books.
If you ever decide to go to Mont Seleve, it is good to note that there are two #8 busses that go exactly along the same trek until you get to the bottom of the map. You have your choice of Tournettes OR Douane. We took Tournettes, but it is much quicker and easier to get off the Douane #8 bus because if you get off at Tournettes, you need to follow a very squiggly line (as I drew on the map) in order to get there. The walk is nice, but a bit tricky. That said, we took the bus from Douane on the way back "home". The "directions" only said get off at Veyrier at the French border. Both are at the French border... and that is true....
Just some signs, since they are different than they are in the USA
Just a pretty house
We noticed that the schools have fences around them, resembling a prison. Apparently rocks also are in prison.
Up, up, up - only takes 5 minutes
View is lovely of Geneva
(videos below)
You can see some tiny excavators on the hillside. No idea how they could get up the last part (there was a path until the end. Didn't look like something I'd care to do.
On the way down we saw a paraglider (dark blur upper left). Not the way I'd like to go down, then again the whole time in the cable car I kept imaging the cables breaking and how fast the ride would go then.
An elephant statue outside an Indian restaurant. There are many statues in the city, many of which are of people without anything on. (huh?!) perhaps it is a symbol of the beaches here which allow little to nothing on... seriously.
Another thing I read about before coming to Switzerland is that you can buy the very same good Swiss chocolate at the local grocery store for a fraction of the price of the expensive stuff. And it is true, the chocolate is very good. Trying to figure out if we can bring some home as it is pretty warm here and it's supposed to be warmer in Italy. Not sure if we can keep it from being a pile of slop.
Nota very flattering picture of me with my skirt all bunched up and my sleeves being pulled by my crossbody "pocket' as I call the thing I hold my phone in (which is the only reason I don't lose the thing). But here I am, reading Joan of Arc by Mark Twain on that seat that looks like 2 oversized toilet paper tubes with fake grass over it. The grass was nice and soft, if that helps.
These are the elevator floors. "0" is the main floor with the lobby. -1 must be the basement. We were on the 4th floor and that means climbing 4 flights of stairs. (we usually take the elevator)
An evening stroll
For the 3rd time we were eating at Star 1 Kebab, not sure they realize that 1 star isn't good. But this place was very good. We had Kebab for lunch which was really good. For dinner last night and tonight we had a calzone also very good. We also had a salad (the nice waiter gave us 2 salads for the price of 1 and we had a glass of Rose wine which was good. There is something good about European wines,
Soon after the accordions stopped playing (hoping for money), the police came buy. Not sure who they were looking for.
